About Belk

belkBelk is a century-old American department store chain founded by William Henry Belk in Monroe, North Carolina. The store currently has 300 outlets in 16 states. The store was first called New York Racket” and then “Belk Brothers” before it was rechristened to its current name. The company generated US$4 billion in sales in 2014. In October 2006 Belk bought 38 Parisian departmental stores from Saks. In 2015 Belk was acquired by New York-based private equity firm Sycamore Partners and Lisa Harper replaced Tim Belk as CEO.

Belk stores offer a broad range of apparel, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, home furnishings, and wedding registry. Along with the usual apparel and garments for men, women, and children, Belk also sells fragrance and grooming products, toys and gifts for children, handbags and accessories, jewelry and watches and bed and bath products. In women’s apparel, Belk offers lingerie, sleepwear, hosiery, and socks etc. In Men’s accessories, they have belts and suspenders, bags and briefcases and watches. They also have a section called ‘Big and Tall’ and a similar section in Women’s category for plus-size people.
