About Banana Republic
Banana Republic is owned by Gap Inc. and is an American clothing and accessories chain. It was started in 1978 by Mel and Patricia Ziegler in Northern California. It was later acquired by Gap in 1983. Today the chain owns 600 outlets globally. Last year Olivia Palermo became its first global women’s style ambassador. Outside America, Banana Republic first opened its store in Tokyo’s Ginza, the most prestigious upmarket shopping district.
The different segments under which Banana Republic sells its merchandise are Men, Women, Petite, Jewelry and Accessories, Shoes and Factory Store. In apparels, they offer a wide range of Tees, Pants and lowers, dresses, winterwear, blazers, outerwear etc. to choose from. Their Jewelry and Accessories section offers handbags, scarves, hats, belts, sunglasses, socks and tights etc. They also have a collection of fragrances to choose from. In footwear for men, they sell oxfords, loafers, sneakers and boots and for women they have sandals, slides, pumps and flats.
